Resumen
Presentamos el caso de una paciente con deterioro
cognitivo moderado que fue sometida a psicocirugÃa.
La búsqueda en la compleja biografÃa de la paciente,
asà como el paralelismo temporal con otras operaciones
de psicocirugÃa (como la de Rosemary Kennedy),
conducen a profundizar respecto al pasado de esta
técnica, sus orÃgenes, errores y aciertos, asà como
su estado actual. Se consideran tanto los elementos
neuroanatómicos, como psicopatológicos y biosociales.
Todo ello nos conduce a un viaje al pasado desde los
inicios de la psicocirugÃa; con sus luces y sus sombras,
hasta el momento actual.

Abstract
From the search inside the complex biography of the
case of a patient, as well as finding similarities with
other operations such as the psychosurgery made to
Rosemary Kennedy, we get into a journey that lead us
from the early beginning to the present psychosurgery,
from its origins, successes and failures as well as their
current status. Neuroanatomical features including
biosocial psychopathological are considered. A journey
to the future from the beginnings of psychosurgery,
with its lights and shadows, until now. At the end we
will discover how much psychiatry has been developed
during the last 30 years, and how this pioneers
discovered a way of treatment that is still being used in
some specific indications, like severe OCD.

Apresentamos o caso de uma paciente com dano
cognitivo moderado que foi submetida a psicocirurgia.
A busca na complexa biografia da paciente, assim
como o paralelismo temporal com outras operações
de psicocirurgia (como a de Rosemary Kennedy),
conduzem a aprofundar a respeito do passado desta
técnica, suas origens, erros e acertos, assim como
seu estado atual. Se consideram tanto os elementos
neuroanatômicos, como psicopatológicos e biossociais.
Tudo isso nos leva a uma viagem ao passado desde
os inÃcios da psicocirurgia; com suas luzes e suas
sombras, até o momento atual.
