THE GAMBLER
Abstract
The Gambler o el jugador, como se titula en español, es una pelÃcula recientemente estrenada que relata como un talentoso profesor de idiomas lo va perdiendo todo por sus dificultades con los juegos de azar (Wyatt, 2014). Lo interesante y apasionante, desde un punto de vista neurocientÃfico y clÃnico neuropsicológico, es el cuadro de disfunción ejecutiva, especÃficamente en la toma de decisiones, que presenta el personaje principal del film, Jim Bennett. Dentro de este contexto, en el presente artÃculo se plantea como objetivos el describir el cuadro clÃnico presentado por Jim y analizarlo en relación al funcionamiento de la hipótesis del marcador somático, el funcionamiento ejecutivo y la toma de decisiones. Para lo cual se expondrán varias escenas de la pelÃcula que permitirán comprender el funcionamiento neuropsicológico, a un nivel clÃnico, de los postulados mencionados.
