Abstract
R E S U M E N

Coronavirus disease global outbreak has brought, as a natural consequence, fear and uncertainty, and along with it, behaviors that can sometimes be far from expected when facing a situation of this magnitude, since they seem little altruistic and excessive, increasing the risk of both, personal and others infection. Similarly, it is considered an important vulnerability for the development of psychopathology, especially in a part of the population whose mental health has been affected by autobiographical experiences and genetic predisposition, individuals at risk. This article briefly reviews basic and applied research that partially explains these phenomena, underlining the role that psychological science can play in this emergency.
Key words: anxiety, avoidance, pandemic, unpredictability, uncontrollability.
