THE SENSITIVE BRAIN: Between the biology of desire and the Architecture of connection
Abstract
The cover of our new special issue is no aesthetic whim; it is a statement of principles. An artistically intervened naked human body stands as the most honest metaphor for our biology: the skin as the primary interface where instinct, culture, and desire collide.
Behind the beauty of this living canvas operates a silent, overwhelmingly complex machinery. Our cerebral cortex constantly decodes a flood of external stimuli, endowing them with affective meaning to ultimately drive our behavior.
Yet, as you navigate the research in this edition, science reveals a fascinating paradox: no matter how much we sophisticate our environment through technology, luxury, or sound design, the human brain—the most complex structure in the known universe—keeps seeking exactly the same thing as that first naked body at the dawn of humanity: to be seen, to be felt, and to connect deeply with another.
I invite you to dive into the pages of the Panamerican Journal of Neuropsychology with the same curiosity as one who observes our cover. Discover the silent architecture behind our decisions and bonds.
