Abstract
R E S U M E NÂ
El objetivo de este trabajo fue verificar si las alteraciones de las habilidades mentales primarias en adultos mayores con TNC leve, debido a enfermedad de Alzheimer, se incrementan cuando el paciente experimenta, en simultaneo, sintomatologÃa depresiva. Participaron en esta investigación un total de 785 adultos mayores con TNC leve, debido a la enfermedad de Alzheimer, y se dividieron en dos grupos. Los participantes fueron evaluados a través de la aplicación del Inventario de Depresión de Beck II (BDI-II), y el Test de Habilidades Mentales Primarias de Thurstone (HMP). Siendo que se encontraron efectos estadÃsticamente significativos entre depresión y todos los mecanismos asociados a las habilidades mentales primarias. Considerando los resultados obtenidos se puedo verificar que las habilidades mentales primarias se presentan afectadas cuando el paciente, en simultaneo, presenta sÃntomas depresivos, siendo que las alteraciones dependen directamente del nivel del estado depresivo que padezca el paciente.

The objective of this work was to verify whether the alterations in primary mental abilities in older adults with mild TNC, due to Alzheimer's disease, are increased when the patient experiences, simultaneously, depressive symptoms. A total of 785 older adults with mild TNC, due to Alzheimer's disease, participated in this research and were divided into two groups. The participants were evaluated through the application of the Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II), and the Thurstone Test of Primary Mental Abilities (HMP). Since statistically significant effects were found between depression and all the mechanisms associated with primary mental abilities. Considering the results obtained, it can be verified that the primary mental abilities are affected when the patient, simultaneously, presents depressive symptoms, being that the alterations depend directly on the level of the depressive state that the patient suffers.

Participaram na investigação 785 idosos com TNC leve, decorrente da doença de Alzheimer, que foram divididos em dois grupos. Os participantes foram avaliados por meio da aplicação do Inventário de Depressão de Beck II (BDI-II) e do Teste de Habilidades Mentais Primárias (HMP) de Thurstone. Foram encontrados efeitos estatisticamente significativos entre a depressão e todos os mecanismos associados à s habilidades mentais primárias. Pelos resultados obtidos foi possÃvel verificar que as habilidades mentais primárias são afetadas quando o paciente, simultaneamente, apresenta sintomas depressivos, sendo que as alterações dependem diretamente do nÃvel do estado depressivo que o paciente sofre.
