El estudio de la felicidad tiene larga data en la historia de la psicologÃa y la historia universal, que da sus primeros pasos con pensadores de la Grecia antigua y otras culturas tanto occidentales como orientales (Fernández, 2008). Su estudio cientÃfico y sistemático empero, recibió un importante impulso de la PsicologÃa Positiva, que como corriente emergente (Alarcón, 2009a), se ha focalizado en los factores que son causa y consecuencia de la felicidad. Dentro de esta corriente, son ya clásicos los trabajos de Seligman (2006), Csikszentmihalyi (1997) y Lyubomirsky (2010); quienes han realizado diversas contribuciones en la comprensión de la felicidad y sus condicionantes más relevantes.Â
